Unity in Diversity

Imagine a country with triple the coffee area of Vietnam and richer in natural resources, and yet producing just 40% of Vietnam’s annual outturn. Imagine at least 5 million coffee farmers in need of basic access to good agricultural practices and market information. Imagine a country with a rich cultural diversity and eagerness to develop. This is the Indonesian Archipelago, once the fourth largest coffee exporting origin worldwide.

Despite its long-standing history in coffee production, coffee trees have aged and were not replaced. The consequence: productivity has declined over the years, and farmer communities are struggling to survive.

Driven by a globally anticipated coffee supply shortage of 30 million bags and the realization of the huge production potential of this country, the international industry and the public sector began to invest in reviving the Indonesian coffee sector.
